Usual Adult Dose for Bacterial Endocarditis Prophylaxis:


2 g orally as a single dose

Usual Adult Dose for Skin or Soft Tissue Infection:

Usual Adult Dose for Osteomyelitis:


500 mg orally every 6 hours

Therapy should be
continued for 4 to 6 weeks, with respect to the nature and seriousness of chlamydia. Chronic osteomyelitis might require an
additional one or two months of antibiotic therapy and might take advantage of surgical debridement.

How many other drugs will affect cephalexin

Before using cephalexin, educate doctor should you use
any of the following drugs:




  • a blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin);




  • metformin (Fortamet, Glucophage, Riomet,
    Actoplus, Avandamet, Metaglip); or




  • probenecid (Benemid).




This list just isn't complete where there may be
other drugs that will connect to cephalexin. Educate your doctor about the many prescription and over-the-counter medications you have. For
